The Fortress City of Tith Empty Re: The Fortress City of Tith

Some notes on the Fortress City of Tith:

The City of Tith is a fortress city located roughly in the middle of the dukedom, sprawling between a corridor of mountains, the upper range being known as the Maxilla peaks, and the lower range being known as the Mandible Peaks. Although the countryside surrounding the city has been ravaged through centuries of warfare, the fortress city itself, with its high walls and eleven watchtowers carved from the meat of the mountains is nearly impenetrable.

There are two main gates in the city, the Northeast and Southwest Gates open only from dawn until noon, and for an hour during dusk. Through these gates runs the Highway, which runs as a high traffic trade road that connects the three cities of Port Nerevard, Tith, and Rothontas.

The City has four major roads, the first roughly following the line of the city's outer wall, the second circling the Citadel and the third and fourth bisecting the city North to South and East to West. The city is roughly divided up into four residential districts and four merchant districts, with a final district belonging to the Citadel itself, the center of all learning, knowledge, and government in Nerevard.

Residential District A - A rather pleasant district for those of middling wealth.
The Noble Quarter - The wealthiest residential district, where relatives of the duke and members of the Order tend to take up residence. Highly fashionable.
The Slums - diametrically opposed to the Noble Quarter, the far reaching slums of Nerevard are where its poor collect, with conditions deteriorating as they approach the wall.
Residential District B - Another fairly well-off district, itself dotted with a number of small but flourishing businesses, as well as the homes of a range of classes.
The Miner's Quarter - An area housing the miners who work in the upper and lower mountain ranges.

Merchant District A- This district deals in goods travelling from the West of Nerevard, and heading towards its trading partners of the East, and vice versa
Merchant District C- This is the shadiest merchant's district, ostensibly to deal in goods arriving in the city from the west, it has become a center of black market trade.
Merchant District B- This smallest merchant district is also the busiest, as it is here where much of the manufacturing in the city of Nerevard is done (primarily blacksmithing, scribing, bookbinding, carpentry, and textile weaving)

The Citadel: Within the Fortress City of Nerevard is another smaller fortress that contains all of the governmental and religious buildings of the nation. The walls are several feet thick, and constantly patrolled by the duke's personal guardsmen. Within the Citadel is held the Duke's palace, barracks, royal stables, several fine gardens, a temple to the Pantheon of Light, and, most importantly, the Grand Library, finest in all of Tyrus, its large white dome a symbol for knowledge everywhere.
