The Movement of Reason Empty The Movement of Reason

The Movement of Reason, while still in its infancy, will undoubtedly have lasting repurcussions on Tyrus in the days to come. After all, what kind of world will Tyrus be if it shuns the very magic and the very deities that gave it life?

It is with great pleasure that we present you with a quick summary on the Movement of Reason. Take some time to consider what this Movement represents as you read it over, as well as how your character will react. After all, it's only a matter of time until a small rebellion turns into a full-blown revolution :-P

As always, feel free to PM me or hit me up on forums if you have questions.

Movement of Reason

Origins
The Movement of Reason arose as a response to the machinations of the Order. It was driven to do away with the Order and all of the mysticism, political intrigue, and religious ritualism that surrounded it. Its goal is simple: to effectively bring Tyrus into a new age of Reason, independent of a Pantheon it had largely come to view as little more than myth.

The Movement began in Yaavik and in Nerevard. In Yaavik, the movement originated at the hands of a Gnomish guild whose wealth had been greatly diminished in aiding the famine-struck Nerevard at the Order's insistence. This group quickly began to spread its ideals, leading to riots in the streets of Ytrewq and the eventual renouncement of the Order in the dukedom. In Nerevard, around the same time, a new religious order of sorts arose: The Scholars of Vayd. The Scholars, having founded their faith around lack of faith, were the first adamant supporters of the Movement of Reason.

Since then, the Order has spread to all four corners of Tyrus. Dissent and resentment has begun to surface throughout the four Order-supported dukedoms as the people begin to realize that the Order may not be necessary to maintain peace and prosperity.

Beliefs
The beliefs of the movement of Reason are simple and few:
1) The mortal mind is capable of understanding the world and all aspects of it, as well as maintaining peace, order, and a civilized society without the help or intervention of mythical God-figures. The mind, and its creative power of invention are all that are needed to ensure a secure future for all of Tyrus
2) Superstitious thinking, including belief in Gods, and in magic are outdated constructs, not needed in a society that relies upon its own cognitive powers to bend the world to its will.
3) The moralities and values put forth by the Order are intangible things, mere guidelines backed up by the power of non-extant gods, guidelines which the rational mind should not need.

Organization
This movement is a mass movement, headed by a number of particularly influential groups, such as the Gnomish mercantile, the Scholars of Vayd, the merchant class of Ytrewq, and the Scientists of Nerevard.

Abilities
The Movement of Reason teaches that resourcefulness and ingenuity are all that is needed to ensure prosperity, and as a result followers of the Movement have no bestowed or inherent "powers." Their influence, however, is proving to be power enough; Yaavik has already sworn off the Order in favor of the Movement, and most of the other dukedoms are beginning to question the necessity of such arcane and archaic teachings.

Gameplay
The Movement of Reason is entirely open to player characters. There are however, certain class restrictions. The following classes are prohibited for starting characters who follow the Movement:

Mage
Cleric
Bard
Paladin
Druid
Monk

Characters who wish to roleplay a character who converts to Reason may do so. But keep in mind that if the requested roleplay results in a successful conversion, the character will lose all abilities granted to her by the above mentioned class.
