In a game where the story line is steeped in racial conflict, it's imperative to have a grasp of the races that fuel that conflict. T: FotO is surely no exception, primarily because of the history behind each race and how they've locked horns over differences throughout their time on the shard.

It is with great pleasure that we present to you a summary on the core races of T: FotO. Not all races are mentioned in this summary, but these are certainly the races that will have the most impact throughout our campaigns. As more information is revealed throughout gameplay on races, both new as well as the ones below, we will revise this list. Keep an eye out.

Core races of Tyrus Empty Re: Core races of Tyrus

Races

Core races of Tyrus Dwarf
Dwarf
A patently unfriendly race, Dwarves have taken up residence in the mountains of Cyd, where they've learned to mine and craft the ore held deep within the mountain’s stomach. Centuries of hard living in the harder terrain has made them a rugged, distrustful, and often cruel lot, preoccupied with safeguarding what wealth they have.

Core races of Tyrus Elf
Elf
Once a beautiful and ambitious race that settled primarily in the forests of Tolerand, the younger Elves have begun to flock to the cities during the time of the Order, their keen intellect and talent for lore quickly winning them positions of power. Elves are a jealous and often snobbish race, and fiercely protect both their secrets, and their status.

Core races of Tyrus Gnome
Gnome
A primarily city-dwelling race of reason, Gnomes practice a number of crafts or trades in Tyrus, and can be quite protective of their markets. Being a race of reason, they have been some of the first to turn from the Order.

Core races of Tyrus Halfelf
Half-Elf
Unpredictable by nature, Half-Elves are known for their free spiritedness and distaste for rules and regulations of any kind. Being caught between two races has forced this mixed race to a seafaring life, and they make up a large percentage of the pirate population both before and after the Fall.

Core races of Tyrus Halforc
Half-Orc
A strong silent race, Half-Orcs are not the most intelligent, nor the least intelligent creatures in Tyrus. They are most comfortable in small tribes in the mountains of Cyd, where they have developed a taste for anything living that might cross their path. In Yaavik, they find more gainful employment as professional goons.

Core races of Tyrus Halfling
Halfling
A jovial and overly friendly race, Halflings are well-known for their wit, high-spiritedness, and charm—boisterous, and friendly, they are generally trusted by all. They are both cursed and blessed by their insatiable curiosity and luck, and their good nature often lends itself to diffusing otherwise hostile situations.

Core races of Tyrus Human
Human
The most widespread race of Tyrus, humans are extremely malleable, adapting to a number of cultures, climates, and roles throughout the land. Their flexibility is both their greatest strength, allowing them to rise to positions of power within Tyrus, and their greatest weakness, causing them to often shift loyalties. This often makes them a bit transient and often untrustworthy. Also due to the human flexibility they are a difficult race to define, as characteristics vary from individual to individual. A common trait found in humans, however, is a general preoccupation with material wealth; human greed is often one thing that distinguishes them from many of the other races.

Core races of Tyrus Aasimar
Aasimar(Non-Playable Race)
The Aasimar are a race of half-celestial servants to the Pantheon of Light, their origins heralding back to the appearance of the first High Guardian. Most Aasimar are half-human, but some Aasimar with elven ancestry have been spotted on Tyrus. Their divine origins often segregate them from the rest of society, and most Aasimar are found and recruited by the Order to serve as Guardians at an early age. The full extent of their powers are generally unknown, though there have been reports of paired Aasimar laying waste to entire legions due to the divine favor of their heavenly "parent."

Core races of Tyrus Genasi
Genasi(Non-Playable Race)
Rumored to have been born of the fluctuations in energy of Myll, these elemental beings have, according to legend, been found in the ancient forests of Tolderand, lending the Elves some of their lore.

Core races of Tyrus Gnoll
Gnoll(Non-Playable Race)
An outcast but intelligent race, Gnolls are never seen in groups of more than five, preferring their melancholy isolation in the harsh mountains of Cyd. Despite their intelligence, they are also a race of bloodthirsty instinct and a keen sense for survival, and therefore are often portrayed as warlike or vicious by those of other races.

Core races of Tyrus Goblin
Goblin(Non-Playable Race)
Little is known of these scattered tribes in the Yaavik desert, though they are known for harassing merchant caravans in transit.

Core races of Tyrus Kobold
Kobold(Non-Playable Race)
The Master Race brought through the Mists by As’tasia as refugees, many of their kind mutated as they traversed the Myll, spawning the races that would come to gain dominance over the mainland of Tyrus. The Kobold who remained in their natural form stayed on the islands near the gap in Myll, naming themselves its perpetual guardians.

Core races of Tyrus Orog
Orog(Non-Playable Race)
An industrious, efficient, but frugal race found both in small mines in Cyd, where they compete with the dwarvish monopoly over precious metals and minerals, and in the deserts of Yaavik, where they act as guides to any wishing to cross the expanse. Orogs remain closest in blood to the Kobold ancestors, and therefore possess some of their intelligence and longevity. However, their populations typically remain small, and tend to keep out of any affairs that are not directly related to the making of money.
