Development Update

Post  Amaymon on Fri Sep 19, 2008 6:25 pm

Just thought I'd throw up a quick update to players and admin so we can get everyone on the same page in terms of our development status:

1) The server is ready for testing. We'll be testing over the weekend to ensure stability and functionality. If that proves to be successful, we'll be module testing with a good deal of intensity over the coming days.

2) Campaign setting information and basic character information is finalized and posted in our Campaign Guide. While it is by no means complete, it is definitely enough to get started. We'll add as we progress through the campaign.

3) We're attempting to incorporate DMFI Wands and HABTD bleeding systems into our game. This should take our events to a whole new level and make things more entertaining for everyone as it will include goodies such as real-time special effects, weather transitions, languages for each race, etc. We've hit some snags so far, but I have every bit of confidence we'll get these systems working.

4) Player Rules and DM Guidelines will be drafted over the course of the next few days to ensure fairness for EVERYONE. They'll be posted upon finalization.

5) We've discussed how we will handle our game world in regards to accessibility. After a series of exciting conversations we've come to a very positive conclusion as to how this will be handled: Our world will be persistent and accessible by the player-base 24/7

So what does this mean?

Our campaign setting will start off small, then persistently grow with each DM-sponsored event as we build modules, locations, etc. This is an intriguing idea that I think will only prove to have VERY exciting possibilities as we grow and expand our game. I'll get into further detail on this as we proceed.

As things near completion, I find it necessary for everyone involved to stipulate a deadline. That way you know where we stand and have a target date to look forward to. Therefore, launch date is tentatively scheduled for October 3, 2008. Further information will follow.

As always, if you have any questions or comments, feel free to PM me on forums or IM me on IRC.
